Our Story

Hi There! My name is Mandy Zhang and I am an incoming freshman at Harvard. I am the Founder and Executive Director of Young STEMists. I launched this initiative and organization in April 2021 because I believe it is important to help increase resources for the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and global leaders of STEM.

My Post (19)_edited.png

From a young age, I have always been invested in the world of STEM. Since I was 4, I have constructed over three dozen functional arcade machines and playhouses simply made out of cardboard and tape. During my free time, I value educating other children by running science experiments, rethinking new ways to learn math, and creating mobile app games.

Why is it necessary to get more girls involved in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics?

Giving girls and women equal opportunity to pursue — and excel in — STEM occupations helps to close the gender wage gap, improve women's economic security, assure a diverse and competent STEM workforce, and avoid biases in these disciplines and the products and services they generate.
